1977 Arrow Daytona Spyder by E.G. Autocraft | SOLD

Rare and beautiful, this is a 1977 E. G. Autocraft, Arrow Daytona Spyder, a stunningly true to the original Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Replica. E. G. Autocraft produced 80 examples of very faithful and accurate reproductions of 365 Daytonas, of which 7 were Spyders in the 70s. Ferrari officially offered the Scaglietti bodied Daytona Spyder for two years from 1971-1973 with only 122 examples being made, of which seven were right hand drive. Ironically this means that the replica is rarer than the real thing.

Acknowledged as the finest recreation and best built 365 Daytona replicas ever built, these are very faithful and accurate reproduction vehicle. E. G. Autokraft/ PKA/ Arrow was the work of Emilio Garcia and Peter Jacobs. Emilio was well-known for turning Ferrari 365 Berlinetta Daytonas into Spyders for years so it was a logical step for him to engineer a replica. He turned to Peter Jacobs to make the bodies, Peter was the man who built the composite bodies for the RS200 Ford rally car and very well made Ford GT 40 replicas. The E. G bodies were Kevlar reinforced composite and could even be had in aluminium at extra cost.

Moulded from an original Scaglietti car, this is without question the most accurate replica of the marque. Dimensions are exact and allow genuine Ferrari parts to be used if required, such as the genuine Ferrari headlights, front corner indicators, tail lights, pop-up headlamps, grill and chrome bumpers on this car.

Manufactured in a very limited number, bespoke to clients requirements at the time, they are very convincing to all but the true Ferrari aficionados. Unlike other replicas, a multi tube bird cage framework designed by the race famed, Emillo Garcia, were able to accept Jaguar XJ12 subframes containing anti-dive independent suspension, vented disk brakes, Jaguar V12 engine and 5 speed manual gearbox.

With a real Right-Hand Drive Daytona Spyder selling at auction for multi-millions dollars, this is a very convincing deal. This example is presented in stunning Nero Daytona bodywork, with a very accurate interior, incorporating Daytona style seats finished in cream leather with black inserts, an aluminium and alcantara covered dashboard with full instrumentation, correct sliding heat controls and a genuine Ferrari steering wheel. Powered by a 1976 Jaguar XJ12 Series II V12 engine mated to 5 speed manual gearbox, with performance that matches the look and wonderful noise from quad ANSA exhaust system.

A great deal has been spent on this 46 year old vehicle by the previous owners, as evident from the huge history file. The car spent the last eleven years in Hong Kong, kept by the same owner, mostly in dry storage, sparingly driven. It is running and driving with only minor detailing left to do before returning to the road for a great experience. This car is simply the best of the best and the closest you could possibly come to having an original Daytona Spyder at a fraction of the price.

CONDITION REPORT:

Restored Replica. Well-kept and maintained. Bought "used" by the current owner from the UK 12 years ago, imported to Hong Kong and benefitted from a full recommissioning. The whole car was restored and repainted black, the interior configuration was improved to make it even more accurate to the original. The restoration project also included an engine and mechanical overhaul where all major areas of the engine, belts, clutch, cooling, ignition, suspension, brakes, fuel system, body and interior refreshed. From that point onwards, the car has been sparingly driven, mostly to events and shows.

Overall looking good with some visible blemishes. The alloy wheels are in fair uncurbed condition showing some patina on the clear coat finish and shod with older tires. The Interior is fully restored, the seats, dash, carpets and door cards are in good condition but require cleaning up to present better for shows. Air Condition is in working condition. Mechanically sound and runs well. Taxed and ready for the road.
