A Pinnacle of British Motoring Heritage, Meticulously Restored and Enhanced for Modern Enjoyment
THE E TYPE LEGACY
When the Jaguar E-Type debuted at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, it redefined automotive design and performance, earning effusive praise as a "racer for the road" that masterfully blended grace, space, and pace. Born from the D-Type’s Le Mans-winning DNA, this icon combined sensuous curves with cutting-edge engineering: a 265-horsepower 3.8-liter XK inline-six, monocoque construction, four-wheel disc brakes, and independent rear suspension. Its legacy as one of the most desirable sports cars of the 20th century remains unchallenged, celebrated by enthusiasts and collectors alike.
THIS MOTOR CAR
This exceptional 1961 Jaguar E-Type Roadster represents the most coveted iteration of the model: an early Series I "Flat Floor" example, distinguished by its covered headlamps, low-slung stance, and unadorned cabin floors—features phased out by 1962. According to its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, this right-hand-drive example left the factory in October 1961 clad in Opalescent Gunmetal over a Black leather interior, equipped with a French Grey soft top, and dispatched directly to Gilman & Co. of Hong Kong.
Resurfacing in Hong Kong in 1980, the car has remained under local registration, transitioning through five owners before entering the current custodian’s care in 2015. While its mid-century history remains shrouded in mystery, its provenance as an original Hong Kong-delivered E-Type—coupled with a comprehensive, well-documented restoration—cements its status as a marquee collector’s prize.
RECENT REFINEMENTS & UPGRADES
Under current ownership, this E-Type has undergone a meticulous, HKD530,000+ refurbishment program (2015–2024) to enhance drivability while preserving its vintage character.

15" Wire Wheels: Wider rims shod with period-correct Pirelli CN12 tires (205/70-15) for improved stability.
Enhanced Cooling System: Upgraded radiator and engine oil cooler for reliability in warmer climates.
Safety Modernizations: Discreetly installed seat belts (non-intrusive to originality).
Cosmetic Refinement: Expert repaint in classic red (period-appropriate shade), renewed black soft top, and refurbished chrome trim.
Accompanied by 16 detailed service invoices, a 2016 Jaguar Heritage Certificate this E-Type is primed for immediate enjoyment—whether on spirited coastal drives or as the crown jewel of a discerning collection.
