THIS MOTOR CAR:
This Corvette C1 started its life in the United States and at some point shipped to Gold Coast Australia and was expertly converted to Right-Hand Drive and officially certified. The previous Hong Kong owner bought this car in Australia in 2009 from its second Australian owner (an automobile restorer in Sydney). He subsequently kept the car in Australia for four more years before shipping it to Hong Kong in 2013. A hefty (HK FRT) First Registration Tax was paid to have the car properly registered for road use in Hong Kong. After many years of enjoyment, Classic Insider was engaged and successfully sold the car in Feb 2019 to its second Hong Kong owner.
Throughout its life it has always been serviced and maintained, there's a history file that dates back to 2013. In 2019, the car was subjected to a mechanical overhaul and electric equipment update. All major areas of the electrical system including the wiring harness, engine, fuel injection, cooling, suspension, brakes and steering were renewed. Of note, an updated radio, dash, an original looking but power operated windows, an electric power assist steering, and custom-made Air Condition/ Heater were installed.

CONDITION REPORT:
Restored Original. Well-kept and maintained. The car was restored in Australia more than a decade ago. Paint and body are still in respectable condition although some blemishes on the fibreglass body have surfaced over the years of regular usage. The original interior is in a surprisingly good condition, the seats, dash, carpets and door cards are all in good shape. A number of "creature comfort" equipments such as radio, power-windows, power-steering and A/C were upgraded and all in working order, a rare luxury in a classic American muscle car. Mechanically excellent, engine overhauled, with the new fuel injection system, cooling system and all the wiring being replaced, the car drives beautifully.

C1 components / parts installed are available ‘off the shelf’ from USA vendors, providing either reproduction components, or replacements for original parts, plus the option to upgrade to improved modern parts eg. Wiring and mechanical
Complete replacement of old and damaged/worn wiring harness with new wiring harness also to allow replacement of the generator with a 105 Amp alternator, to support installation of air conditioning, electric cooling fan, electric power assist for steering, etc.
Replace 4 worn out shock absorbers with new Bilstein replacement parts.
Original GM parts kit to completely overhaul front suspension, including new springs.
Original GM parts kit to replace front brake assemblies with new discs and calipers.
Original GM part to replace worn brake master cylinder and to upgrade to twin brake circuit for safety.
Replace all worn rear brake parts, including new slave cylinders.
Replace worn rear suspension springs with new, modern single leaf progressive mono-spring to improve ride quality and decrease weight.
Replace differential with a remanufactured unit and replace all rear wheel bearings.
Apply heat and sound insulation under carpet and under-body.
Heavy duty radiator with electric fan.
New water pump.
New inlet manifold and throttle body fuel injection system replacing worn out carburetor. Adjustable from driver’s seat using handheld module.
New distributor, coil, MSD CDI box and spark plug leads installed and set up to be controlled and adjustable by fuel injection system computer.
Custom air conditioner and heating unit installed.
New windscreen wiper system.
Electrical power assist system, with driver adjustable level of assistance.
Complete replacement of original instrumentation with Dakota Digital unit in Km/h and gear position sensor, providing original looking gauges and clock. Two small LCD screens are located on the speedometer and can be customized to show odometer, trip meter, gear position, speed, rpm, time etc etc etc. Controlled by driver selectable option switch.
Radio replaced with retro look radio that includes Bluetooth function.
New carpets.
Original mechanical window winder mechanisms replaced with reproduction electric window winders, available as a factory option in 1958. Switches on both doors are discreet and operated by the original window winder handles, apart from switch on driver’s door to operate passenger window.
Seat belts were optional in 1958 and colour coded seat belts have been installed using factory mounting points.
New fuel tank, in-tank high pressure fuel pump and fuel lines.
New exhaust system, with original manifolds retained.
